Tall Bearded Iris: Itƒ??s getting more common to see iris introductions, ever new combinations of colors - looking as if the top, the standards, were cleanly excised and removed to another iris. Such is?ÿJawbone Flats. Gorgeous, well-defined standards are amethyst in color with white infusions streaming up the midribs. Breathtaking falls are dark purple overlaid with a white netting. The falls are admirable, broad, furling out and edged with a thin lavender border. 8-9 big blossoms festoon the strong, upright stems, 44 inches tall. Grabbing the viewerƒ??s attention is the white ray pattern covering the falls. The original Jawbone Flats is one of the most memorable hikes in Oregon, located in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains.?ÿ

We lived in the St. Louis metro area, both downtown and out in the country, and I always had too much shade. I was not able to grow anything that was sun loving and, of course, that included the iris. However, I would go to the Missouri Botanical Garden and see the unbelievable display of irises there! I purchased a couple dozen different iris's that arrived healthy, easily identified with labels and the bulbs were a good size! I planted in a temporary location as I still was working on their permanent location. Yesterday, transplanted them to the permanent location and they had doubled in size and the roots had more than doubled. I have found that online ordering can be risky, but not so with Schreiners.
