Autumn care of daylilies
With your bloom finished, it’s time to prepare your daylilies for the winter to come.
Finish dividing and planting all cultivars. All daylilies should be planted no later than four to six weeks before your typical first hard frost.
Remove all dead and dying foliage and pull old bloom stalks. Leave the healthy foliage for winter protection.
Add mulch in colder climates to protect against winter freeze damage. Mulch in warmer climates if needing to improve soil quality, retain soil moisture, or assist in weed prevention.
